This course is designed to prepare the participant to sit successfully for the US Customs Broker License Exam, which is administered twice per year (typically April and October) by the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP). Taught by Keith J Hwang, JD, CHB, a licensed customs broker and attorney, the course provides an outline of the central regulatory and administrative framework of customs administration as implemented by the United States government. With the advent of ACE (Automated Commercial Environment), CBP's new operating system, as well as recent changes to US customs laws and regulations, the license exam, which is computerized, has evolved into a challenging mix of core regulatory and classification questions with complex practical exercises designed to test a candidate's ability to navigate commercial import problems. A successful exam candidate must have a deep familiarity with the required legal texts, a proven approach to the various question types and an overall feel for the concerns and objectives reflected in and by CBP's regulations. For this reason, the course is necessarily intense--with 20+ training sessions typically packed with review of core regulations, their applications to customs transactions and dissection of actual exam questions that illustrate how the regulations are tested on the exam. Hundreds of questions from past exams will be reviewed during the training sessions and participants will be expected to have practiced with over 1000 questions by the end of the course.
